My students are eager to learn and to be challenged in their physical education classroom. They show excitement when we are challenging one another in competition. However, we currently do not have enough equipment for every student to participate per class. This leave some students watching and waiting for their turn. They have PE every day, so there are a lot of students sitting outside watching others participate.
The majority of the student population has a military connection due to us being located near a military base.
The school is very diverse in socioeconomic and many are considered at poverty level. A lot of our students here thrive to one day be in the Military themselves.
My Project
Students will be exposed to new sports that they may not be familiar with, broadening their life experiences. We need badminton equipment. My students find the names of the sports silly, and they look forward to experiencing the games first-hand. Considering the technology usage our students experience, exposing them to anything fun that will get them up and moving can only benefit students.
At the same time, the activities will be helping students to develop hand-eye coordination which will increase confidence and self-esteem.
This sport is similar to tennis and requires cardio vascular exercise. Students learning and growing, whether through new education or new physical activities, is so important to their development and growth.
