My Project

My students study birds each Spring. I want them to learn about (and marvel at) how birds' bodies are perfectly adapted for survival. They are most excited about learning when it is brought to life through hands-on activities and first-hand observation.

Imagine a first grader's delight as they observe our schoolyard birds in a way they've never seen them before up close and personal through the lens of a camera embedded inside a bird feeder!

I just learned about these this year and they are so cool! The top of the feeder is a solar panel that keeps the camera charged. The camera sends video to your device (which we will project for all to view). Because of AI, it even identifies the bird for you!

I know my kids will love this. Birds aren't something we can study by touch in our classroom and we're certainly not going to have much luck chasing them around the playground. Being able to watch our schoolyard birds as they visit the bird feeder is going to be a big hit!
