This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to our room!! "May I have a pass to go to the library to access the Google program for our history project?" a student asks. This is a constant occurrence in my classroom. Students want to apply the knowledge learned but waste and miss class time due to technological and other material deficits.

Many of my students come from households with both parents working numerous jobs.

Our school has over 75% free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.

With this though, students strive to better themselves both academically and as individuals. Through their interactions with others at school and their studies, they are gaining the background knowledge and new concepts to be productive members of society. Maintaining their buy-in and interest in school is vital to ensure their success in making good choices for themselves and their future.

My Project

Organization is the name of the game! Through this donation of backpacks, my students and volleyball team will be more organized to continue their good work in the classroom and on the field. By having their school materials, from books to calculators, and their sporting gear, from socks to shoes, all in one location, they will be less worried about having the materials needed and focused on the task at hand.

All student-athletes having the same black Nike backpack will unify the team with one seamless look.

Further, they will be able to represent their team and promote their participation by sporting these brand new backpacks. Staff and students will ask, "where did you get that new bag?" and they can reply, "from an amazing donor on DonorsChoose.org who is supporting my education and team. I hope you can come to support us this week at our game!"
