Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Due to the growing interest in Womens Basketball after this year season, I am ever more motivated to get my students back in the game. Since the pandemic there has been a decline in youth sports, and it is up to us to get students back in the game. This upcoming school year will be very important to get a jump start as we have only 2 returning players. We will be rebuilding. This summer and the beginning of next school year will be spent on putting a basketball in the hands of girls who may have little to no experience.

So, as we prepare to rebuild our team and search for new talent, we need your help.

It is important that our team is confident and proud of who they are and the school that they represent when they play in front of their peers at home and when we travel to other schools. My hope is to get backpacks for our girls' basketball team. The backpacks will be used to carry the girls' uniforms, shoes, and other accessories needed for the game. The backpacks help them stay more organized and it helps with team unity when you look the part. We all know the saying "When you look good, you feel good" and Team Unity increases the girls' confidence and helps them stay focused on the game ahead.
