Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager learners that have to commute 45+ minutes to get to school and others live in difficult housing situations which makes it even more important for them to have a classroom that has all the resources they need.

Our school is a Title I urban school with high poverty and limited resources.

Our school located in the San Francisco Mission District is 100% free lunch, over 70% of my students are English language learners and 100% are students of color.

My Project

My students currently have to place their backpacks on the floor in the classroom because there isn't a place for them to hang their things. They can't hang their backpacks on their chair because the chairs fall down. Having hooks improves the classroom by creating a comfortable environment and also serves as a organizational tool for teachers.

My students NEED a place to put their backpacks because it helps them with classroom organization and allows the flow of the classroom to be much smoother.

I believe that all students in schools should have a place to put their things when they come into the classroom. Having them put their things on the floor where it is easily stepped on and lost is not best practice for students.
