My students need tissues, glue, graph paper and other basic essentials replenished. We are approaching the beginning of the school year, and, based on enrollment rosters already obtained, we will have very large class sizes.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The General Chemistry program at our high school is undergoing an overhaul of the curriculum to prepare students for the challenges they will be facing once they leave the high school bubble. Our General Chemistry course is an unorthodox and unprecedented program at our high school that emphasizes learning to reach proficiency in analytical and critical-thinking skills. The class has approximately 32 students each period for a total student enrollment of approximately 160 students. Most students come from neighboring Lake Elsinore, but there are also students from the surrounding areas of Canyon Lake, Corona, and Wildomar.
Students are uneasy about taking General Chemistry, but the primary goal is to have them realize that success in a class like chemistry requires maintaining a growth mindset mentality and realizing the real-world connections a class like chemistry can have to their lives.
I believe in every student's ability to succeed with a rigorous, challenging, realistic, and authentic project-based approach to learning in lieu of traditional approaches. We don't want students grasping for answers; we want them having the ability to state with confidence why they are able to come up with answers in a particular way.
My Project
Previous classroom projects have focused on specific projects for specific needs. This project is a general replenishment of the supplies typically needed to be bought at the beginning of the school year.
The biggest investments happen to be the tissues and hand sanitizer.
However, this project will also look to replenish a low stock of glue sticks, graphing paper, and other office supplies related to my chemistry classroom. We are looking forward to having a busy and productive year, and the materials listed will go far by providing students the materials to go on with their studies without major delay.
