Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title 1 school in Tampa, FL. Over 96% of our students are living in poverty. I teach a blended pre-k class with VPK students and students identified with disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Speech/Language Impairments and Developmental Delays. My students love to learn, and are sad when they miss school due to illness.

In our pre-k class, we go through tons of baby wipes, tissues and other cleaning products daily.

We get a limited budget at the start of the school year, however it only covers a fraction of the supplies we consume daily. Many of our students are in diapers, so I have added disposable gloves for myself and my aides to use when changing them. Parents aren't always able to send baby wipes so I keep them on hand.

Tissues are a must. We go through 1-2 boxes per week with all the runny noses. The paper towels will help with the spills as we eat lunch in the room daily and breakfast on occasion in there. The carpet cleaner is to sanitize my rugs from the potty accidents and students suddenly getting sick. We spend the majority of the day on these carpets so the cleaner is important.

We will be using the batteries for our interactive toys to help students during play centers. The ink will be used to print social stories and materials to help my students with their pre-readiness skills.
