Back to school and back to reading literature! Many students have yet to fall in love with reading and books. This upcoming year I want to inspire my students to have a joy and passion for reading a variety of current literature that will keep them coming back for more reading!
My school is located just outside of Atlanta.
I will be teaching two sections of 4th grade literacy and writing to a diverse group of students. I want to make sure that I have the necessary resources, as well as make sure my students are all set for the new school year.
My Project
I am requesting several resources that will help me with the instruction this upcoming school year. I have requested several books that I know my students will love. Some of them will be used as a read-aloud while others will be used in small groups or with a partner. I am also very excited to introduce my students to Scholastic StoryWorks Magazine this year. I love how I can easily differentiate this so it meets the needs of all of my students learning levels.
I also am requesting several treasure box items. While I would love to afford these items on my own, I simply can't afford it. I want to encourage my students to be polite and respectful not only to me but to our classmates and other adults. With this positive behavior they can earn money to purchase treasure box items such as Smencils and mini-sport balls.
I am also requesting some basic school supplies for our classroom. The stapler and scissors are always a necessity in a classroom.
By getting my project funded I will be able to introduce my students to a variety of well recognized authors, keep them up to date with current events through StoryWorks and reinforce positive behavior with our treasure box.
