My Project

This will be my first year back into the position of a classroom teacher in over 10 years, and I'll be teaching 3rd grade for the first time. I am hoping to have a classroom where the students feel welcome, a place they can foster problem solving skills, opportunities to build their confidence, present them with challenges so they learn to take chances, and a classroom where they can build relationships through learning.

An effective way for students to learn is by collaboration.

We will be using the School Smart chart paper to produce anchor charts as a class for the math and science skills/concepts that will be covered this year. The charts, which will be hanging around the room, will provide a visual for the students to refer back to when completing work.

Of course they will appreciate having the X-ACTO School Pro electric pencil sharpener and Mind Reader Pencil Dispenser when they come in each day to prepare for learning. We'll use the Lohee Teaching Dice for building math fact fluency. Our room will also have a Science Discovery Corner where they can use the hand lenses and plastic trays to explore with hands-on activities like Fossil Find. When they need to unwind and release some of their energy they'll have the basketball, volleyball and soccerball to take out to recess.

Students come back to school with so many different emotions, and I'm hoping the materials included in my Back to School project will help my 3rd graders to find joy and fun in learning.
