My Project

In 5th grade, we do a project where students choose to read a chapter book by an award-winning author. The idea is to get great literature by diverse authors in the hands of young readers. Once students have completed their reading, they create a slideshow presentation to present to their classmates, somewhat Reading Rainbow-style, to give them information about the book and let them know why it's a must read. Students then have a new list of great books recommended by kids their age to continue reading throughout the school year and in the future!
