Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of the books on this list are American Library Association Award Winners for 2023 . They include digital media, video and audio books for children and young adults – including the Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery and Printz awards.

Students need access to popular favorites as well as high quality read aloud and chapter books to build and vary their identity as readers.

Some of the books on this list have won awards based on the identities represented by the characters and the authors, and some have won awards simply for the quality or universality of story they tell. Both are important ways for students to encounter windows and mirrors as they read in library and build their identity as readers, and as people.
