Our library at QAE has SO much heart! We have over 400 explorers bustling through our aisles each week in search of magical adventures and new ideas. Recently, we launched the Reading Olympics and could really use these Award Winner books to help our readers go for the gold!
Our elementary school was founded on the following five pillars:
1.
"We are self-directed learners."
2. "We encourage each other to think critically and learn more."
3. "We are concerned, confident and compassionate citizens of the world."
4. "We learn everywhere, we learn together."
5. "We are creative."
These five pillars brilliantly describe who I believe our students to be. I am constantly amazed by our compassionate citizens of the world. I have witnessed students mentoring younger students, as "book buddies", displaying huge amounts of care and compassion. I have looked on in awe as two students going for the same popular book create plans to both be able to read it, letting their sharing hearts shine. And I have felt so proud to watch my students advocate for other students both locally and across the globe. Our explorers are incredible and I love being their librarian!
My Project
Imagine Michael Phelps practicing without a swimming pool? Imagine Serena Williams playing tennis without a racket? These books are the equivalent for our Reading Olympics! Our school community has grown rapidly over the last couple of years and we need more books for more students. There have been several days where I have felt that I was not able to supply a kiddo with a book that I would love to be able to introduce to them. Each day our students enter the library with hope and excitement and I would like them to be able to exit the library with these same fantastic feelings!
Now, envision: Over 400 students reading the books that you have donated every day!
Not only will your donation provide Caldecott and Newbery Award Winning Books on a daily basis, but this content will also be featured once a year in our Reading Olympics! It is my hope that these books will become some of our students favorite books from childhood and ignite the next generation of readers! You will have helped create these incredible memories for so many great kids! Thank you SO much!
