Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Teaching at a Title 1 school has its perks. Each year I welcome students who are filled with a desire for learning. Students who engage with each other in meaningful ways and create lasting relationships. They have that deep yearning, that spark of wanting to excel and to prove themselves worthy of greatness.

However, these very same students often lack many of the necessities for learning even on the very first day of school.

It is heartbreaking to see students coming in with an empty bookbag . Because of this, I often try to acquire extra school supplies to help eliminate those embarrassing moments for my students. These supplies will help to put a smile on their faces, while also helping me to create an environment conducive for learning and growing.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
