My students have had a RIGOROUS year to say the least. For many of my students, kindergarten is their first time in a classroom, and the amount of heavy academic work can put a lot of stress on little brains. My kiddos have worked hard and made great gains, and it's almost time to celebrate!
My classroom is located in a small suburban town and is filled with funny, kind-hearted children.
We spend our days working hard to grow our brains. My students came to me with a wide range of experiences and abilities. Throughout the course of the school year, my students have worked incredibly hard to meet the high academic expectations I have for them. However, summer vacation is coming, and most students' reading levels decrease by at least one level over the course of their two months off.
My Project
These books will be a part of my end-of-year gift to my students. I was lucky enough to find a GREAT sale and have already purchased for each of my students a Dr. Seuss-themed reusable bag, bookmark, pencil, eraser, and mini notebook. I'm hoping these materials, coupled with a great book, will encourage my students to keep their little minds engaged and strong over summer vacation.
These books will be the perfect piece to tie together my end of year gift to my students.
We talk about the importance of being active readers in my classroom all the time, and this will give my students the opportunity to practice what we preach during their vacation. They have worked SO hard to learn to read and write this year, and I want to give them as much of an opportunity to retain and apply their learning as I possibly can. Help my students avoid the summer slump!
