Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a low income area and despite the struggles they have at home, they come to school ready to learn. They come to class motivated, willing to ask questions, and participate in discussions. Seeing them each and everyday wanting to succeed is a huge motivator for me in wanting to give my best to them. Unfortunately, we will be finishing off the school year with remote learning and at this time it can be very stressful especially for those students who work better in a classroom environment. My goal is to make this remote learning an experience that they will not forget by trying to make it feel as if we are in the classroom.
My Project
Through this new experience of remote learning, I have come across some bumps in the road. One bump that I have come across is my work laptop's keyboard mouse. I can no longer use it and even though my laptop also has the touch screen support, I would rather not have to resort to that. Instead of using the touch screen, I recently purchased a mouse in order to get my work done, check my emails, and participate in Zoom meetings with colleagues. The second bump in the road is that the speaker is going out and sounds muffled when I have the volume on even at a low level. Lastly, the battery life does not last as long as it use to and my computer freezes quite often. Every student deserves an equal opportunity in learning and my goal is to give each student that opportunity, however with the challenges I am facing with my laptop, it has been difficult to give my students that opportunity.
