My Students
I teach an autism self-contained classroom. All of our students are learning online at this time. Students are having daily video chats with me in order to keep them making progress on IEP goals. Teaching students with such significant needs remotely has been one of the most difficult challenges I have faced in my life. We are all doing our best to make it work with the resources we have.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference for the students in my classroom. All of the students in our class have significant academic, functional, and developmental needs. Most of these students struggle to attend to the less hands on activities and are significantly more successful with more meaningful and fun learning activities. Students show significantly less anxiety and negative behaviors when provided with learning activities that will interest them. Especially ones that they can be more independent with. The parents of our students are reaching out in panic mode. Our students need more at home that will motivate them even with the change in location and routine. These materials will assist parents with keeping their kiddos motivated throughout this process as well as giving me the opportunity to continue producing fun hands-on lessons for these students through this pandemic. Please help me give these students the fun learning experiences they deserve and crave so much.
