Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students this year span the globe. We have seven different languages in our classroom. Even with all our differences, my students are there every day ready to learn. Whenever we get stuck on something or the going gets rough, we join in our class cheer "We can do it!"
Our school is a Title I school with 99% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.
We have refugees from around the world who teach us about resilience. They are here every day learning a new language and new customs. Access to technology at home and at school is limited. My students work hard and want to be proficient in the skills that will help them in college and the workforce. We live in a digital world and this should include our classroom.
My Project
We love to read about amazing animals and places around the world. Sharing what we have learned about the animals and places with friends and family brings us pride in our work. The best way to do this is to become authors ourselves.
Using tabs to find our important information again makes us efficient writers.
We can organize our information on poster pads or whiteboards using our Expo markers.
We are working so hard that we go through our supplies really quickly. It is frustrating and we lose our creative thoughts when we have to stop because we have run out of supplies. Our final books and projects look amazing and we are so proud of our work.
