Our students come from all areas of Spokane and all walks of life. They bring with them many experiences to share with their classmates from their diverse backgrounds from all over the world.
They have come to our school because they have a desire to learn about the world and the people that live in it.
They are smart, curious, enthusiastic and ready to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges. Many of them do not have access to what is happening around the world and need someone to give them a window to look through. Our school allows all students to learn about global economics, politics, education, geography, and more and believes that it is through this experience that we will build a better future for everyone.
Our hope is that our students leave with a deep sense of who they are and who they share this world with. We have set a goal that all of them will make it to and through college and lead their communities in the future.
My Project
Students in our middle academy will be able to use the virtual reality glasses and their own devices to experience worlds that would never be available to them otherwise. They can visit the Parthenon in Greece and be fully immersed in its majesty through the Viewmaster world landmarks app. They can experience first-hand a trip to Peru taken by the founder of Tom's to donate shoes to children in the community and visit their school. They can can see the living conditions of those who have been forced to leave their country because of war and are now living in a refugee camp in Jordan waiting to be resettled all over the world.
These experiences will help our students gain a better understanding of the world they are inheriting in the future.
They will also give our teachers the opportunity to not just speak about a place but provide our students the opportunity to take a virtual field trip there and witness as first-hand as they can.
