Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality for Junior Explorers

My Students

I work with over six hundred curious and energetic children who love hands-on learning. They have a passion for exploring, engineering and caring for our planet. My students are constantly asking questions and work hard to discover the answers.

Our school was the first STEM school in the state of Georgia, and we have recently become the first STEAM school.

We are always striving to give our students a well rounded and engaging experience. We are a Title I school working to enhance learning for our students.

My Project

My students will use our Google Expedition kit, with augmented reality and virtual reality, to explore our Earth and Space. We will travel the world to explore the habitats of endangered species, the different geographical areas in our state, the day and night sky and so many other amazing places. We will bring objects into our classroom that my students may never have had the chance to examine.

We will use these explorations for scientific discovery, to inspire our writing and to develop solutions to issues facing our planet.

We will also explore museums and arts performances as history and art inspire us to become more creative in the engineering and design process. My students will use the 360-degree camera to create their own virtual trips and projects. They will create their own art and science objects to use in augmented reality.

My students love active exploration! Augmented will allow us to bring objects, from around the world, into our classroom. We can explore totem poles in the hallway and giant cells at our desks. The possibilities for student exploration are endless. We plan to explore them all.
