Audiobooks for Increased Fluency

My students need 9 new audio books including Junie B Jones and A Happy Heart to promote fluency.

My Students

My students are awesome! For the 2015-2016 school year, I had the opportunity to watch them grow from below grade level second graders to many of them above grade level second graders. For the 2016-2017 school year I am able to have an opportunity most teachers don't get....I get to keep my class and move with them to third grade.

Many of my students come from poverty.

We offer 100% free breakfast, lunch and snacks. We also have a diverse population of students representing many countries and cultures around the world.

My Project

Listening and reading along to audiobooks is an important tool for teaching literacy. I have seen how students have grown by listening to fluent reading and then applying it to when they read. Listening to The books in our listening center also keeps my students engaged. They don't realize they are reading too when they are following along to a book. The audiobooks are also great for my ESL learners because they can hear and see the word Athens same time to build their vocabulary in speaking and written form.

For my project, I need more audiobooks that are at third and fourth grade levels.

The books we currently have are second grade levels and they need more challenging audiobooks as third graders next year. They have grown so much this year and I want to see them grow even more.
