6th grade is a challenging year for students in many ways. The struggles my students face at school and outside of school add to the already challenging time in life. We are a very small rural school with very limited resources and the same goes for the surrounding community.
Each day is a new day, with endless opportunities for learning.
My students get frustrated at times, but still try their best at the end of the day. I try to instill my love for teaching and learning in my classroom. My students know I will be their biggest support as well as the push they need to do their best!
My Project
Literacy is such an important part of a child's educational journey. For my students with learning disabilities, reading and truly understanding what they've read, is an everyday challenge.
By donating to our project, you will be providing a new learning experience for my students by helping them create meaningful text to text, text to world, and text to self connections through listening and reading.
Audiobooks allow my students to follow along with a new reader. The various voice inflections and expressions the audiobook readers provide reaffirms my modeling of good reading with fluency, tone, and expression within my classroom.
In addition to the audiobooks, new class sets of novels will be utilized in small group, direct instruction reading programs to expose students to various texts.
Reading is so important! It is my goal to instill a love for reading with my students. With your help, my students will be able to overcome their challenges and find their own love for reading!
