Attendance Matters And A Clean Classroom Can Help!
Help me give my students an air purifier, a salt lamp, lysol spray, disinfectant wipes, tissues and other cleaning supplies to help keep our classroom germ free and clean!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are our future, little bodies with limitless minds. My intention is to facilitate their desire to learn and explore by offering them a fun, safe, and secure area to learn and explore!
Our class is one of three first grade classes in our school, residing in one of the most poverty stricken neighborhoods in Philadelphia.
Our elementary school is considered a very high poverty and high needs school that lacks sufficient resources to give my children the education they deserve!
My thirty-three students come from different ethnic backgrounds such as African American, Latino American, and Asian American. A large majority of the children in my class are first-generation Americans whose first language is not English. Being able to offer my students a quality education, is of the utmost importance. So many of these children come to school expecting a safe, comfortable place to learn; an escape from their turmoils at home, an environment where they feel warm, loved and nurtured.
My Project
Students attending school regularly is a must! With access to these cleaning supplies in our classroom it will help us to stay germ free! In a first grade classroom there is always someone with the sniffles, a cough or the stomach bug, cleaning regularly is a must! The wipes will be great to wipe down our tables each day! The disinfectant spray will help keep those germs at bay on our door knobs, computers and other manipulatives. With so many of our students suffering from asthma and other respiratory conditions, it is imperative to keep the allergens out of our classroom as well. The air purifier and salt lamps will allow me to keep the airborne allergies at bay.
When students can not come to school because of an illness it can affect their academic success.
Students may be absent for a number of reasons, but if cleaning regularly can help eliminate some of the absences, we need to keep a clean classroom!
