Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The attendance incentive program is designed to encourage consistent school attendance by recognizing and rewarding students for coming to school regularly. Positive incentives help reinforce healthy attendance habits, increase student engagement, and create opportunities to celebrate students who are making an effort to be present and ready to learn. Snacks will be used as small, meaningful incentives to recognize students for meeting attendance goals and encourage continued progress.

Healthy snacks will also be available for students who come to school without having eaten breakfast or who experience hunger during the school day.

Hunger can make it difficult for students to concentrate, participate in class, and regulate their emotions. Having easily accessible snacks allows the school social worker to address an immediate basic need so students can return to class feeling more prepared to learn.

Requested snacks will include individually packaged, shelf-stable options such as granola bars, crackers, pretzels, fruit snacks, applesauce, trail mix, and other nutritious grab-and-go items.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
