Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My name is Ms. Hino, and I am an Adapted Physical Education Teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is my passion to work with individuals with disabilities and provide instruction and opportunities for physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle.

For many students with disabilities, especially in lower-income areas within Los Angeles, opportunities and funding can be sparse.

Programs like Adapted Physical Education provides sporting and movement opportunities for all abilities. Not only do the students with disabilities benefit, but their parents, the community, their school, our staff members, and their non-disabled peers also benefit. The mission of Adapted Physical Education is to incorporate all collaborative parties to work together to create an inclusive event. Seeing the smiles upon the students' faces during Adapted Physical Education class must continue!

My Project

During these extremely challenging times with distance learning, it is a constant struggle to provide physical education lessons with homemade equipment. Many of my students live in low income areas and are not able to purchase the materials needed to participate in physical education lessons. Right now, my students are throwing rolled up socks for tennis balls and using empty water bottles as pins to knock down... This is not a way to teach lesson for our students, they deserve better! Please help my students receive the equipment they need so they can continue to strive while learning at home.
