My students need a LCD projector to make visual aids available to the students for whole group activities. My school has a smart board which I would be able to borrow and connect to the projector to make animation and the internet come to life on screen for my students. My students are very visual learners and this would aid tremendously in their learning process.
Nevada is stepping ahead to assist special education and its students. "Maybe not today and maybe not in the same way, but step by step together through full inclusion we will make the goal!"
I am a teacher of preschoolers with Autism. It is my goal and job to teach these students to function in a fully integrated general education Kindergarten. My students have been told by society that they are not capable of learning, but when I have my students on field trips, I have been told that they are very well mannered and behaved! I have also been told that if I had not said anything, they would not have known they were students with Autism.
I have never been more proud of my students. It is with this in mind that I want to expose my students to the same opportunities as the general education population so that when they are introduced to technology later in their educational career, they already have an experienced background. Will you please help extend the future for a classroom of students with Autism and watch what they can do?
My students are in need of technology that will enhance my ability to use visual aids. If I had an LCD projector, the students would be able to view books, power points and computer programs as a whole group. This would free up my hands to assist the students with physical prompting and other needs instead of holding the props and visual materials. An LCD projector along with our existing smart board would enable this to happen. These are very smart kids and I know this would be well received technology for my students.
Let me recount a story I know about a boy with Autism named Jason. He received the opportunity to play the last four minutes of a basketball game in his hometown and managed to score 20 points for the team hitting a combination of 2 and 3 point shots. He claims "I may have Autism, but Autism doesn't have me!" He is so right! Please help my students hit their 2 and 3 point shots as well!
