This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our kindergarten students arrive each day eager to learn, explore, and build the foundational skills they will use throughout their educational journey. They are beginning readers, writers, mathematicians, and problem-solvers who thrive when they receive personalized instruction and encouragement. As a Title I school, many of our students benefit from additional support and early intervention to help them develop the skills needed for future success.

Our kindergarten team is requesting funding for ESGI, an interactive progress monitoring and assessment program that allows us to quickly assess students one-on-one while keeping them engaged.

We use ESGI regularly to monitor essential kindergarten skills, including letter identification, letter sounds, decoding and encoding CVC words, number recognition, counting by ones and tens to 100, colors, shapes, and other foundational literacy and math concepts.

Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, our school is unable to purchase this valuable program for our classrooms this year. Without ESGI, teachers must rely on paper-based assessments that require more time to administer, score, and organize, taking away from valuable instructional time with students.

ESGI helps our kindergarten team make data-driven decisions by providing immediate results, progress graphs, and easy-to-read reports. This information allows us to identify student strengths, provide targeted small-group instruction, intervene early when students need additional support, and celebrate the growth our students make throughout the year. ESGI also helps us communicate student progress with families so they can better understand their child's learning and support skill development at home.

By supporting this project, you are providing an essential tool that will benefit every kindergarten student on our campus. Your generosity will allow us to spend less time collecting data and more time teaching, encouraging, and inspiring our youngest learners.
