Aspiring Mathematicians Need Whiteboards to Help With Visual Spatial Reasoning
My students need coordinate plane whiteboards to learn about geometry. Being able to physically rotate the white board helps students understand rotations in a meaningful way.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Preschool through 8th grade educational campus. As a result we as teachers get to know them really well. My students all come from low income homes and 44% are English Language Learners. I am a special education teacher and I serve all students including the 23% with identified disabilities.
My students are mathematicians in the making!
They love to apply problem solving skills to their classroom work. Additionally, they can use mathematical discourse to converse and determine best approaches to solve complicated real world problems. My students are disrupting assumptions about students in their socioeconomic situation. With the right resources they can reach incredible heights.
My Project
Visual spatial reasoning is an area of struggle for so many people. How many times have you heard someone say "I hear what you are saying but I need to see it"?
Experiencing something creates the best type of learning.
When a student is able to draw a polygon onto a whiteboard with dry erase markers and then rotate the board 180 degrees, all of a sudden the geometry becomes tangible and obvious. These coordinate plane whiteboards will allow the math to come alive for students who would otherwise feel lost and confused. Please help my students bridge the gap between the abstract and the concrete.
