Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are constantly growing and learning in our school. Our school is also a personalized learning school. The idea of personalized learning is that ultimately each kid moves forward at their own pace and in their own style. My students are always eager to learn!

My students are 4th and 5th graders at a low-income school, with students receiving free or reduced-price lunches.

With the high poverty rate at my school, it can be difficult for students to get the opportunities that they deserve. There are 35 students in my classroom, and I want to make sure that each one gets to experience a creative learning environment.

My Project

My students love to create things! Each of my students has so much creativity that needs to be released! Our school does not have the funding to allow for creative art supplies. I am writing this project to allow my students to really show off their artistic sides. As a new year begins, I want to create a choice time for my students to choose different artistic choices.

Two of the choices are going to be photography and watercolor.

With the polaroid pictures, watercolors and markers my students will have the opportunity to join the photography club or the water color club. This is a time for students to really engage in something they are interested in outside of the regular academics of school. So much learning happens when students are able to engage in activities that interest them, and these supplies will truly help this come alive in our classroom! Please consider donating!
