My Students

My students enter the classroom eager and ready to learn. I am currently a special education teacher working with students with a wide range of disabilities. Being a newer teacher in my school, I am working on making my classroom more welcoming to my kiddos. I want them to feel comfortable and excited to be there. I hope to add new hands-on materials, flexible seating options and technology to enhance their learning experience. Making learning fun will help close the educational gap for my struggling learners!

My Project

I believe it is extremely important to create a strong classroom community. One of the ways I foster a classroom family is by meeting at the carpet for numerous activities. My class meets as a group on the carpet for guided reading, guided math, shared writing, read aloud, and many other times throughout our school day.

We need a space that fits everyone!

Currently, my classroom has a small 4 x 6 carpet that only fits about 5 students. I would like to add a larger and softer carpet to my classroom in order to create a cozy environment for all. My kiddos are always excited to run over to the carpet, however, if they are not first to the carpet or the flexible seating they are left sitting on the floor surrounding our rug. It is very important to me that all of my students feel equally loved and included and I think a larger carpet will do just that. Please help us create a work space big enough for us all!
