Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This school year, I am teaching 29 intelligent, curious, and confident 5th graders. Their backgrounds are all very different, which bring a challenging but rewarding experience to the classroom. My 5th graders all have different academic and social abilities. They are resilient, strong, and caring. My students also work very hard and care for one another.

My students are capable of so much!

Due to such different backgrounds and challenges in my students' lives, they require a lot of new experiences and I hope to provide them with arts integration through lessons in order to give them a new outlet for learning across subjects.

My Project

My class is full of talented artists this year. They all enjoy using a variety of art supplies but most importantly they enjoy creating art throughout the school day. I try my best to incorporate visual arts across subjects like math, social studies, and ELA. This enables my students to be more engaged.

Art is understanding!

I have always believed that art enables questions and conversations about our world. Art provides examples for students when subjects are difficult to understand. Without a visual examples students are less likely to understand concepts specifically for English learners.

This project will allow my students to prepare their ideas for a Women's History painting based on their research but also to have paint, paint holders, and markers for future art projects. They will have so much fun!
