Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is typical. We learn new things daily in class. However, there are many things that my students need to learn this school year.
My students are from low-income families, and about ninety percent qualify for the free lunch program.
Some of them live with grandparents or are in foster homes. That's why I want them to succeed in school. This will lead to them going to college which, in turn, will lead to them finding jobs and becoming successful adults.
My Project
My students need supplies to make arts and crafts. We want to make ribbons for a variety of events at our school. We want make ribbons to honor students who have done well in school.
We want to make ribbons for monthly events to bring awareness.
For example, for breast cancer awareness we want to make pink ribbons for students to wear for the month of October or orange ribbons for anti-bullying. Every month we will research what each month represents and present ribbons to students to wear while educating them about the importance. Every month we want to bring awareness to issues. In order to do that we need glue guns, ribbons, gems to decorate the bows, and trays to keep our supplies organized.
