My students come from all walks of social and economic backgrounds. They might not have a very comfortable lifestyles at home, but I want them to be comfortable when they come to school, especially in the art studio. The more "homey" and safe it is, the better they feel that the art studio belongs to them.
Having ownership in the art studio is what makes the students more themselves and to showcase their unique personalities.
Allowing them to feel comfortable and safe in the art studio is all I want for them. The more colorful the art studio is, the more it allows them to enjoy the class and have an appreciation for art.
Being in a cold, dreary art studio does not bolster creativity. Art studios are supposed to help their imagination and creativity to grow and inspire my students. Having resources like books, supplies, and creativity is what assists in helping kids enjoy art classes.
My Project
As an art teacher, I try to go above and beyond to get the supplies that I need to have my students create wonderful pieces of art. With that said, when they make the art pieces, they have learned a little bit about the style of a specific artist.
With these books, the students will be able to absorb more information about the world's greatest artists than ever before.
I do not have a whole lot of books about each of the world's greatest artists but with the series that author Mike Venezia created, it will help my older students (3rd through 6th) become more informed and creative in their art pieces. It will also help me in getting the little ones (Kindergarten to 2nd) interested in art.
