The students in my class are four and five-year-olds who love to move, jump, dance, sing, and learn! They all come from different backgrounds and circumstances at home; but when they are in my class, they all become one big happy family.
Every day in our room is a happy day!
My students have been working very hard learning their letters and letters sounds. In preparing for kindergarten, my students are learning how to sound out words and have become emergent readers. To foster fine motor skills and love for art, we have an art center where they are free to create art projects and use their imagination with various art supplies.
Materials like craft buttons, pony beads, and Melissa and Doug stamps will help my students make their art work come alive. They will also be able to paint pictures on the Melissa and Doug easel, create mosaics with the colored tissue paper, and create jewelry projects with the assortment of various beads.
Art is a great way to engage students in their learning.
These materials will be used not only in the art center but also throughout lessons to extend students' learning. For example, if we are learning about the seasons of the year, students could create an art projects to represent each season.
