This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a 9th-10th grade school adjustment counselor in a high school that serves the students of our community. Our district is a large one and our high school is in an urban environment where more than three-quarters of students are from low-income households.

Help my high school students improve their interpersonal as well as motivational skills.

At times, this impacts their progress in school, not only academically but socially as well. Through an after-school program as well as in school counseling, it would be fun to incorporate these skills through more hands-on activities with these art cards, colorful pens, workbooks, books and sensory sand. These skills will not only help them in high school but in their everyday lives post-secondary and throughout their future journeys and endeavors.
