Help me help my students develop a love for art and meet art standards at the same time!
I teach at a school in California where the students are enthusiastic about learning!
My students love all subjects, but are particularly excited when they get to create anything from scratch. This includes stories, paintings, collages, poems, and more. I am so happy to partner with Disneyland's CREATE Grants to provide my students with art supplies that are necessary to help my students explore the part of them that loves creating!
My Project
I am requesting watercolor paint sets, watercolor brushes and paper, oil pastels, and flash drives in order to teach a series of lessons that will meet several Fourth Grade Art Standards. For example, I will use the watercolor supplies and to meet Standard 2.8: Use complementary colors in an original composition to show contrast and emphasis. I will use the oil pastels to create a lesson that will meet Standard 2.7: Use contrast (light and dark) expressively in an original work of art. I will use the flash drives to meet Standard 5.3: Construct diagrams, maps, graphs, timelines, and illustrations to communicate ideas or tell a story about a historical event, and Standard 5.4: Read biographies and stories about artists and summarize the readings in short reports, telling how the artists mirrored or affected their time period or culture. The flash drives will allow us to transfer our stories and graphs/timelines/diagrams from the Computer Lab to our classroom to my students' homes.
These supplies will not only allow me to teach a series of art lessons that will meet California Art Standards, but they will also allow me to integrate technology into my art lessons.
This is so important because my students need to be computer-literate in order to stand out in the job marker when they are older. I am so grateful for Disneyland's CREATE Grants for considering donating to this project!
