Art Through the Ages; Even the Littles Can Learn!

Help me give my students the ability to see themselves as artists by funding my request for a Neo Pico Projector and stand to be able to trace the major elements of classic art they will be studying.

My Students

My students live in a suburban neighborhood that borders on the rolling hills of wide open countryside. Our neighborhood ranges from upper middle class to students that live in poverty. Because of the diversity in the area, children in our community have inequitable resources at home. It has been my observation that many students calm down and respond to art lessons in a way that they do not respond to other subjects. From the first day of school I use art to teach geography, history, language arts, science and math.

My Project

This project will help primary aged students learn about the artistic masters and to study their work by reproducing some of their famous masterpieces seen in museums throughout the world.

My team and I use art as a way to lower anxiety from the first day of school.

We begin by studying Monet, his gardens and lilypond in Giverny, France. The children go home excited to teach their parents about this famous artist, France, and are able to recognize Monet's work when seen on television, in books or at a store.
