Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students work so hard in reading, math, writing and all other subjects everyday. Part of our curriculum is art. I would like to give them a different art experience besides using the typical crayons and colored pencil art projects.

My students are in second grade.

They are in a school which has 99% of the student body having a parent or parents enlisted in the armed forces. They stay for a few years and move with their families to their next duty station. While they are here at our school, I try provide them with a positive experience they can take with them where ever they go.

My Project

My students need 24 gold pens and 4 sets of scratch art paper kits. I have been looking for different art projects that are different and use different mediums. I would like to incorporate the gold pens with a photo graph of themselves and create a art project using free flowing lines of gold around their partial portrait. I have also have seen some creative scratch art project that would be fun and creative for them to try out. The students will love doing these two pieces of art and they will be able to add it to their understanding of how to be creative and expressive through their art.

My students would love to be able to take pieces of beautiful art with them as they go from duty station to duty station.

They will take what they learn from these two art pieces and be able to learn how to be creative and expressive. They will love doing art.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
