Art & Technology Inspire 21st-Century Learners

My students need a HD digital video camera.

I am always looking for ways to inspire my students to use art and technology to affect change in their community. I teach art at a Title One elementary school and run an afterschool art club for the upper grade students as well.

Many of my students come from economically-disadvantaged situations. In order to compete with their peers from higher socio-economic backgrounds, my students need exposure to as much technology as possible.

I am requesting a digital video camera to be used with my afterschool art club. With this resource, I can incorporate technology into my program curriculum. First, I would like my students to learn the fundamentals of recording videos. I would also like them to explore the impact of multimedia techniques, rather than the two-dimensional artwork that they are accustomed to seeing and making. Video allows for a much more personal glimpse into the emotions that people experience, to the extent that it can be very moving. I want my students to know how they can use video to create change within their community.

Your help will make it possible for my students to gain experience that they would not otherwise have.
