My seventh grade science classroom is a converted first grade classroom. It has no science lab equipment and my kids are supposed to learn about environmental and life sciences in it. To accomplish this we need to do many creative projects and try to make science come alive through creativity.
My kids are great kids that come from a very low income area.
They have limited access to school materials and supplies. These kids appreciate everything that they get and put all donations right to good use. Many of my students not only come from single family homes but they spend their nights watching younger siblings while they try to complete their academic homework.
These materials will be put right to use by my kids. They will use these art materials to complete all sorts of creative science projects instead of the standard science experiments which are not an option in our classroom. These materials (glue, markers, scissors, tracing pad, and wax paper) will help the kids use their minds and creativity to make environmental science come alive. With these materials my students will be able to create environmental posters to help spread the message about issues facing the environment. They will be able to trace, sketch and do rubbings of different plants and rocks that will help them learn about environmental sciences. My students will use these projects to create poster boards that we will use in our science debates over different current event issues that relate to the subject matter we are covering.
These materials will provide a new and positive opportunity for my kids to have fun with science.
They will allow my kids to be creative and create many different types of projects. This project will allow us to discuss, debate and learn about environmental sciences.
