This novel has been such an incredible addition to our classroom library and book club rotations. Because of your generosity, every student has been able to hold a copy in their hands — no sharing, no waiting — which has completely transformed our discussions and engagement.\r\n\r\nThrough Number the Stars, my students have been introduced to key reading skills such as analyzing character motivation, identifying themes of courage and friendship, and making text-to-world connections. We've talked deeply about empathy, bravery, and how ordinary people can make extraordinary choices during difficult times. It's been a powerful way to tie history and literacy together.\r\n\r\nDuring book club time, students read in small groups, annotate with sticky notes, and discuss their thoughts using accountable talk stems (\"I agree because...\" or \"I wonder why...\"). The room buzzes with curiosity — students lean in, share discoveries, and respectfully debate their interpretations. These moments are where critical thinking and compassion come alive.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my readers who used to shy away from chapter books are now begging for \"just one more page.\" One student shared that she went home and asked to read more historical fiction because this book \"made her feel brave.\" Others have taken the lead in group discussions, showing newfound confidence as readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just give us books — it gave my students a reason to love reading even more. Thank you for believing in the power of stories and for helping my 5th graders grow as readers, writers, and humans.","fullyFundedDate":1752618520526,"projectUrl":"project/cool-kids-read-books/9451226/","projectTitle":"Cool Kids Read Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McAlpine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8621685_orig.jpg?crop=363,363,x305,y240&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660661304037","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8621685"},{"teacherId":9703363,"projectId":9105956,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the materials, they were so excited! Thanks to your kindness, my students now have high-quality headphones with microphones, a variety of fun and motivating reward stickers, and much-needed sensory tools that are already making a noticeable difference in their daily learning.\r\n\r\nThe headphones with built-in microphones have transformed how my students engage with technology. In our class, we use language learning apps, reading interventions, and educational games that require clear audio and sometimes voice input. Before your donation, students struggled with old, mismatched headphones—many without microphones, some with only one working ear, and others too large for their heads. Now, each student has a reliable pair that fits comfortably and lets them fully participate in listening and speaking activities. English language learners in particular have benefitted enormously. They're more confident practicing pronunciation and responding verbally during online programs. One student even told me, \"I can finally hear everything and talk back without yelling!\"\r\n\r\nYour donation also included colorful and creative reward stickers, which have become an instant hit. These stickers may seem small, but they carry huge motivational power for my young learners. Whether it's a shiny \"Great Job!\" star or a silly animal sticker for participation, students light up when they earn one. I use them to celebrate effort, progress in reading and writing, and acts of kindness. Even students who are usually reluctant to engage are stepping up just to earn a sticker! One student said, \"Can I try reading that page again? I really want a panda one!\" That moment reminded me how important it is to celebrate small wins, and you've given us the tools to do that in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nFinally, the sensory tools you helped provide are now an essential part of our learning environment. Several of my students have sensory processing needs, and these tools help them stay regulated and focused during lessons. They're able to participate longer in group activities, stay seated during independent work, and express themselves more calmly. I've seen increased engagement and reduced classroom disruptions since introducing these supports. One child who often had difficulty staying in their seat now uses a small fidget during writing time and has completed full assignments more than once a week—something that rarely happened before. That's a huge achievement, and it wouldn't have been possible without your help.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done more than just provide materials—it has given my students tools that make them feel successful, supported, and seen. You've helped build a classroom where learning feels exciting, accessible, and joyful. Thank you for believing in us. Your support means the world to me and even more to the students who benefit from it every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1740925122040,"projectUrl":"project/multilingual-learners-tools-to-success/9054230/","projectTitle":"Multilingual Learners' Tools to Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barrientos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9806764"},{"teacherId":2062361,"projectId":8764899,"letterContent":"We are writing to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity in supporting our sensory room through DonorsChoose. Thanks to your kindness, our students now have access to a variety of sensory tools that help them regulate their emotions, improve their focus, and develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThese new resources - such as the dark tent, the jellyfish mood lamp, the new interactive lights, the light up swing, the light projector, the texture pads, new sensory bin scoops and dishes, and many more - have already made a meaningful difference. Many of our students struggle with self-regulation, and having a designated space filled with calming and engaging sensory experiences allows them to reset, refocus, and return to learning with a renewed sense of confidence and readiness. \r\n\r\nSeeing the joy and relief on their faces as they engage with these to tools has been truly heartwarming. One student, for example, who previously found it difficult to stay engaged in class, now uses the sensory room for short breaks and is able to return to his lessons feeling more in control and ready to learn. These moments are only possible because of your generosity.\r\n\r\nYour support has created a lasting impact, not just on our students but on the entire school community.
