Our school district serves four communities and their surrounding areas, including the nearby Wind River Reservation. We are a district of about 1,766 students with approximately 73% white students, 12% Native American, 7% Hispanic, 6% multi-race, 1% Asian. About 33% of our students are on free and reduced lunch, and 10% of our students are special education students.
The town of Lander has a population of around 7,400 residents of which are 90% Caucasian and the average age of Lander residents is 40 years old with 26% holding a bachelor's degree or higher.
We offer a comprehensive educational program for kindergarten through 12th grade. The district is fully accredited by the state Department of Education and AdvancED. Our program is fueled by the energy of an active and informed Board of Trustees, an experienced and dedicated staff, and interested and participating parents and community members. Our mission statement and our Strategic Plan goals drive our decision-making process.
We are home to six attendance centers. We have three elementary schools (two in-town, one rural), a middle school, and two high schools.
My Project
Art supplies are so crucial for these young kiddos who just love to use their hands! The paper, crayon boxes and markers allow them to be hands-on and create projects, such as a book report, that interact with the read-aloud books we read on a weekly basis by merging their comprehension skills with their creative thinking. The supplies will allow my students to fuel up their creativity! Oftentimes, the student's have wonderful ideas but we run out of supplies by this point in the year because they have been used so much.
The refreshment of supplies will allow the class to continue participating in art projects that they love doing and interact with the story's we read.
