This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is in a very small town with several communities surrounding us. As such, resources can be very limited. To help with this, our community has created a concentrated grouping for our special needs children. All local and surrounding area special needs children are bussed to our elementary to complete grades 1-5 before going to a middle school the next district over. Due to this, our school serves a wide region.

I started serving my school just this past August and was sad to discover that the art room contained no supplies specifically for our special needs students.

I have spent quite a bit of my own money purchasing some supplies to help expand the art experience to allow for inclusion from our SLC classes, however, I still need quite a few more supplies so that there is equal opportunities for all students to complete art projects with as minor of modifications as possible.
