Help me give my students art supplies at home so we can continue art enrichment through distance learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Gilpin's classroom raised $364

My Students
This year I will be teaching fourth grade. Our district is very diverse and we have approximately 60% English language learners.
Our students come from a wide range of different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Over 60% of our students receive a free lunch. Our school also has a wide range of academic levels. Our school supports this wide range with programs like our Response to Intervention Reading Program (RTI.) Teachers regularly meet to look at student learning, assessments and examine our practice.
I am inspired every day by the young people we serve. Many of our students face adversity in their lives yet come to school eager to learn each day. Our families come from diverse backgrounds and come together to support and celebrate these kids. This year more than ever we are having to find ways to connect with families and support our learners.
Our district is in full distance learning right now. This project will help us continue art enrichment at home.
My Project
Our district has been in full distance learning since the beginning of the school year. We do not expect to go back in an in person model until at least January. Our district has worked hard to get all of our students Chromebooks and set up with internet. We have also sent home basic school supplies with every student. It has been truly amazing to see our staff, students, and families rise to the challenge and be learning from home every day. The focus of our state is to provide math, language arts, and English Language Development through our distance learning model. We have lots of resources to support those subject areas in a distance learning model. However, my partner teacher and I have had to be creative in how we bring science, history, music, PE, and art to our two fourth grade classes.
Now that we are up and running in distance learning, my partner teacher and I have a new goal of getting art enrichment supplies to our 4th graders at home.
In order to truly teach art at home students need their own set of art materials. We have done some directed drawing activities at home, and the students have loved it. Kids need the arts to express themselves. Art can relieve stress, and this is a stressful time. They want to do more than just drawing at home.
In order to really get into the kind of art projects that we are used to doing with our 4th graders in person, we need our students to have their own water color sets, paint brushes, water color paper, and color pencils.
Your donation will help bring real art instruction to our distance learning program. Thank you for your consideration.
