My Art students come to the Art room as artists ready to learn. They inspire me by their creativity, kindness, and love of art. The students at Poinciana come from diverse backgrounds. We have many kids from countries like Haiti, Cuba, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
As a Title I school that is facing constant economic challenges, the students are highly engaged in the creative process and produce beautiful artwork.
As their art teacher, I take pride in the fact that they are able to come to class and express themselves freely. I do my best to provide them with art materials and supplies. Your support would greatly enhance their experience in art class.
My Project
My students love a chance to express themselves. As an Art teacher to K-5 students with 33 classes a week, storing their assignments can be challenging. The Lakeshore bins are a great way to keep each sketchbook organized in a bin with the grade and homeroom teacher's name.
I love teaching Art because my students inspire me.
Art education teaches students how to analyze, interpret, and criticize. I will use the sketchbooks for drawing and writing assignments. One writing prompt I will give is "Why did the artists create this piece of art?" "What is the artist's message to you, the viewer?"
In the Art room, we are all set with paper and manila folders for students to make their sketchbooks, however, I am in need of the organizational bins for each class. At the end of the year, students will bring home their sketchbooks and share what they learned with their families. I am also requesting pens.
