My students are very diverse in ability, race, religion, and gender. There are about 16 different countries represented, all major religions, full autism spectrum, hearing impaired, and then there's me... not sure if there is a category for me!
My students have several art shows coming up and they love to show off the techniques that they have learned.
My students care about the quality of the work that the public sees, and they love entering both juried shows and exhibitions in the community.
I know for sure that learning how to stretch your own canvas at a young age is a skill that will last a lifetime. I didn't learn this skill until I went to college and just the thought of knowing how much money I could have saved as a student stretching my own canvas is heartbreaking.
My students are preparing for several art shows and we do not have money to purchase the needed canvas for the upcoming shows.
The students are required to enter one juried show and one exhibit, and they are also required to stretch at least two canvases during the semester. I have some students who choose to stretch all of their canvases for their showpieces. Without these needed supplies, the quality of the final projects may be affected by the lack of needed materials.
