My students need play dough and painting materials that will allow them to make different creations using their imagination while building their fine motor skills.
My students are outgoing eager learners, spirited in their own way and full of energy. They come to school each day ready to learn showing their curiosity and motivation towards the challenges presented to them. They truly enjoy exploring new concepts and ideas and being able to use their own inventiveness in their thinking.
Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.
I strongly believe that students will have your support and attention once you show them your compassion and kindness, seeking interest in each of them. I allow my students to be apart of their decision making and assist in creating solutions guiding their education and learning. I strive for them to understand the importance of their voice within the classroom and expressing their feelings within our classroom.
My students come from many different areas outside of the United States: Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic to name a few. Our school is a Cultural Center for English Language Learners offering teachers that are specially trained to work with English Language Learners.
My Project
My students are in need of new materials that will allow them to show their creativity and inspiration in new ways. In PreK we understand that all students learn differently. Some students shine by expressing their knowledge and talents through exploration of the visual arts. We use art materials in all parts of our day whether it is during choice time, small group or a large group activity. As teachers we model how to use the materials and then allow them their freedom to dive into the materials.
All of these materials will allow our students to gain fine motor strength while enhancing their learning and supporting their creativity and imagination.
My students, as most, tend to be more engaged in their learning when they are having fun and when they are able to have hands on experiences. Materials like foam paint, sponge painting, play dough, stencils, letter painters and play sand will assist these kiddos to become engaged in their learning and express their talents. They will allow them to learn letters, words, create new sculptures and so much more. Most of these children do not have the resources at home so it is my goal to give them these opportunities within the school setting.
