My Students

Hello! I am a second-grade classroom teacher living in Southwest Kansas. The scholars in my classroom come from a low socio-economic and diverse background. My school has over 80% of students on free or reduced lunches, meaning many of the families cannot afford extras for the classroom.

These students come to school every day excited for a chance to learn and be loved!

I am simply looking for ways to help them become inspired to grow into responsible young adults. I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and flexible enough to meet their needs.

My Project

Students in my district do not receive art classes until they are in middle school. I have students in my classroom who had never seen or used a paintbrush before. We tend to focus on math, reading, writing, science, and social studies and art seems to be pushed to the side. One of the main reasons is budget and being able to afford art supplies. Elementary teachers act as art teachers, and I am in need of materials for my students to show off their creativity.
