My Students

Ms. Hansen's students are marvelous artists. Many of them consider art class to be their favorite subject, and take their art training very seriously. Most of Ms. Hansen's students (92%), come from low-income households and qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Ms. Hansen's Art class provides important arts education to students whose exposure to the arts is limited due to their home-life, most of them coming from house holds where both parents work around the around the clock to make ends meet.

Parents do not often have time or means to provide exposure to the arts through classes, museum trips, vacations etc.

Ms. Hansen hopes to provide opportunities for students to visit museums, and to plan family events at school where parents and students can see and create art together.

My Project

I would love to use black paper to mount my student's work, and display in various locations around the school.

Our school space is limited, so we must get creative with how we display student work!

Rather than using a bulletin board, which I do not have available- I would like to mount student art on black construction paper- high quality sulphite paper, and display it on the walls of the lunch room, hallways, and other communal spaces.

Students deserve to see the efforts of their creativity displayed throughout the school community. Younger students can look at the works of more mature students and become inspired to grow and practice their art skills- older students admire their work and the work of their peers and realize how powerful it is to express ones self through art.
