My Students
The students EXPECT to read and write in English (which is something we do daily). What they don't expect is to create art and showcase their work through symbolic art projects that coincide with the reading and writing in English.
My students are amazing and come from all walks of life creating a diverse classroom where they can learn from one another through rich discussions, detailed writing, and even symbolic art.
Both my classroom and school are filled with spirit where students constantly want to express themselves. This project is an example of English empowering students through art.
My Project
These resources will be used for students to express themselves through symbolic art and showcase their masterpieces while still being organized. Color from the markers will make their work come alive and take on many forms to be posted around the room. The giant Post-It chart paper sticks nicely to the shelves and displays their hard work from their novels (plot diagrams, literary terms, quotes, etc.). The cardstock will be used to make class books (cardstock holds up better than paper). The scissors and glue sticks will be a huge asset for their interactive notebooks where they take notes (they include foldables, diagrams, etc.). The organization baskets will ensure that the room stays clean and tidy even during the creative process, while also offering a safe place for their supplies. All of these items will be used directly by students.
Donations to this project will give students a creative outlet to express themselves while in the English classroom.
This will enrich their learning, thus empowering students through artistic expression. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words!
