Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach middle school, grades 6-8. Some of my students have had art before, some haven't even so much as colored, since they were 2. The school is in a high poverty area, and students can't afford to bring in their own materials. Most don't have access to a computer at home, so they cannot look up images.
Many students are interested in art, but they are disillusioned that because they don't have much experience drawing, they are no good at art.
The books and materials I have requested will help my students become more exposed to the world of art and build their confidence, that not everyone has to be a good draftsman to be an amazing artist.
Your help will ensure that my students get the exposure to the art world, they desperately need. You will build their confidence by enlightening more than one artistic path.
